Many people find yoga to be a helpful way to reconnect the their bodies after an injury, but yoga is useful to all people in that it strengthens the connection between the mind and the body, tones muscles and improves flexibility. in addition to these advantages yoga helps foster calmness and inner peace but taking the focus off of external factors that often cause undue stress and redirecting ones consciousness on their own well being. TBI resource fair

Traumatic Brain Injury Forum and Resource Fair
Please join us for presentations and a discussion about Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and the complications between TBI and Post Traumatic Stress.

There will be ample opportunities to hear personal accounts from a veteran with a mild TBI about screening, and options for treatment and recovery. Hear from a VA expert, as well. We welcome family members who are supporting veterans or Guard members, and may need some support themselves to understand the issues.

The Resource Fair will provide a one-stop opportunity for any questions that a veteran has about college benefits, VA benefits and more.
Questions about the resource fair can be emailed to Dorsol Plants  or you can call (206) 355-7900. Please RSVP by email to Michelle McMeel or call (360) 725-9844.

I AM

Sooooooooo……

you know those movies, that are funny; Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, Nutty Professor, Patch Adams… there were all directed by Tom Shadyac. Well since then he was in a bicycling accident and suffered a brain injury, we all know how that can ruin your day. He however has the means to do more about it that most people. He made a documentary called “I AM”. In it he asks the worlds most profound thinkers “what’s wrong with the world?” and “what can we do about it?”

The BIAWA has bought a bunch of tickets to a screening of the film at the Varsity Theater (4329 University Way NE, Seattle) on February 25th at 7:00pm. Shadyac will be at the screening and he’ll take questions afterward.

If you want to go the tickets are $2.50 each for individuals with a brain injury and up to one caregiver $15 for BIAWA Supporters, and you must get them from the BIAWA. There will be no tickets at the door.
